Four Reasons to Choose SofKen
#1 Reduce costs
Due to high operating costs, biofeedback therapy is not popular. The disposable electromyograph probe electrode “Inner Disposable Electrode” that we developed can solve this cost problem.
Traditional medical devices come with integrated cables and probes, which either need disposable replacements or demand disinfection and cleaning by specialized technicians after every use, driving up operational expenses and limiting widespread adoption.
Sofken’s “Inner Disposable Electrode” has a separate cable and probe, you don’t need to dispose of the cable, making it possible to provide a product with the same performance as conventional products cut the cost by 65%.
#2 Reduce waste
In Japan, the volume of medical waste has grown by roughly 1.5 times over the past decade, with projections indicating a continued increase in the years ahead. Furthermore, Japan’s recycling rate for general waste is notably low in comparison to that of Western countries.Recognizing the need for waste reduction and recycling at both individual and corporate levels, we need to be proactive to solve this problem.
With our “Inner Disposable Electrode”, the cable and the probe can be separated, so you don’t need to dispose of the cable, only the probe part, reducing the amount of waste generated.
#3 Patent Strategy
Sofken’s disposable electromyograph probe electrode “Inner Disposable Electrode” has been patented in Japan (Patent No. 6813232).
This is proof that Sofken’s invention is state-of-the-art and its high technology has been publicly recognized.
Sofken can exclusively manufacture and sell this product in Japan.
The product is also registered as a design (No. 008102842-0001) with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
The patent is also under examination in the U.S. and a notice of anticipated patent grant has been received in Europe.
#4 OEM Supply
In 2024, we begin our “Inner Disposable Electrode” on an OEM basis to medical device manufacturers in Japan.
We continue to supply “Inner Disposable Electrodes” on an OEM basis to the global market.
We are confident that our “Inner Disposable Electrode”, which boasts overwhelming cost performance, can be a product needed in medical settings around the world.

Message from the Founder of Sofken
To the future of people, to the field of medicine. Creating useful products for daily life.
Sofken Co., Ltd. has been providing products that make life more comfortable using its unique patented technology.
Now, we are taking on a new challenge in the medical device field.
From my own illness, from my exposure to the current state of the medical field, and from my interactions with doctors working on cutting-edge medicine, I became convinced that Sofken could solve this problem.
Our product philosophy is to “simplify functionality, make it more user-friendly and effective than existing products, and offer it to the market at a lower cost.”
Our recent project involves developing disposable electrodes for electromyography (EMG) devices. This addresses the need for affordable solutions in elderly healthcare.
Until now, the high cost of EMG probes for pelvic floor muscle strength tests hindered the widespread adoption of biofeedback therapy for issues like incontinence.
To tackle the cost problem, we transitioned from traditional cable-integrated electrodes to disposable, separated electrodes. This eliminates the need for disinfection for reusability, reducing waste. Costs are now one-third of traditional methods.
If proven effective in numerous hospitals, this could lead to a significant market for versatile therapeutic diagnostic devices.
For patients and hospitals dealing with issues like incontinence, these disposable electrodes bring new value.
Let’s work together to open and nurture this new market for a better life and improved healthcare.
